About Us
Raising cattle in Southern Missouri
We began our Mini Hereford operation primarily for our grandchildren, hoping to provide gentle cattle for them to show and use as projects.
We soon developed a great appreciation for these cattle and their role in agriculture.
Not only are they great for the younger exhibitor they offer a great option for small acreages, provide quality beef with a smaller carcass, efficient use of resources, hardy producers, and gentle to handle.
Since we began, we have adventured into adding Panda cattle to our program.
We strive to optimize our cattle. Breeding cattle that will work for many situations and needs. We try to produce cows with a mature hip height of 40-44 inches (700-1000 lbs.) and bulls 42-45 inches (900-1200 lbs.). We believe that this size range offers cattle that are large enough to be productive, yet small enough to be great pets.
We are members of American Hereford Association (AHA), International Miniature Cattle Breeding Registry (IMCBR), and Miniature Hereford Breeders Association (MHBA).
Raising cattle is a family affair at Lazy 2 R.
We are proud supporters of 4-H and FFA.
We have deep roots in agriculture, and are advocates for agriculture.

STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
PRODUCTIVITY
We want to produce females that calve every twelve months, with minimal assistance, and produce enough milk to raise their calves. They need to do this efficiently, without a great deal of supplemental feed. We need our cattle to be hardy and tough, able to withstand the extreme conditions in Missouri.
Our bulls need to have the ability to travel rocky, hilly ground and breed in an effective manner. They need to be healthy and trouble free with good dispositions.
STRUCTURALLY SOUND
Cattle have to be sound in order to produce and survive. Structurally sound cattle are more trouble free and productive. We are committed to breeding cattle with good phenotype. We breed cattle that move freely and are able to hold up on rough ground. We also produce cattle with enough body capacity to be productive.
COMPETITIVE IN THE SHOW RING
If you breed them with good structure and productivity they should be competitive in any show. We strive to combine all the production aspects into an eye appealing package.
QUALITY BEEF
Mini (or Classic) Herefords are just that ... Herefords. They produce the same great carcass as their larger relatives. They just produce a smaller carcass that is more acceptable for some families needs. The cuts are a good portion size with all the great flavor.
GREAT PETS
Not discounting the ability of these cattle to become great pets. We want our cattle to be gentle and friendly as well as productive. Cattle with the traits listed above will make for healthy, trouble free, and happy additions as pets. We halter break and handle our calves before they leave for their new homes.

Mini Herefords provide many options to people.
If you are looking for a pet they offer a gentle and great personality in a size that is not intimidating.
If you are wanting cattle for small acreage/homestead production these cattle fit perfectly. They provide great beef for your family, or farm to table sale, while requiring fewer resources than conventional sized cattle.
If you have youngsters that want to experience caring for and showing cattle. Mini Herefords have very competitive shows and lots of opportunities to make friends and memories.
Panda cattle
Pandas offer the gentle, friendly attitude of the Mini Herefords with an interesting look.
Colored like Panda bears, they make a splash in your pasture. Just like the mini Herefords, they are wonderful pets.
They can also be a good choice for a young showman.
